The Boston Economic Club (BEC)The Boston Economic Club (BEC), established in 1932, is a non-partisan organization that fosters substantive, engaging, and well-informed dialogue on economics, finance and public policy topics. BEC’s secondary purpose is the development of friendships and the sharing of diverse perspectives. Welcome to the Boston Economic ClubFollowing the New England tradition of discussion and debate, the history of economic clubs in Boston dates back to the 19th century. Fueled by Boston's strategic location and innovative spirit, industries like shipping, finance, and publishing flourished. This economic boom fostered a need for informed discussion and collaboration among business leaders. Established in 1932 and celebrating over ninety years of rich history, the Boston Economic Club (BEC) is a non-partisan membership organization dedicated to promoting and fostering substantive, engaging, and well-informed dialogue on topics involving economics, finance, public policy, and emerging cutting-edge developments. During the Great Depression, the BEC became a major force in promoting economic recovery and addressing the business community's challenges. Our Club worked closely with government officials and other organizations to develop policies and programs to stimulate economic growth and create jobs. Since then, the BEC has hosted various events and discussions on topics such as international trade, monetary policy, and industrial development. Our Club has also played an important role in supporting the city's growing business community, serving as a forum for business leaders to exchange ideas and information. The BEC serves as a testament to the enduring importance of economic discourse in Boston. As Boston's economy continues to evolve, with sectors like tech and biotech playing a larger role, the BEC will continue to adapt and provide a platform for critical conversations on our city's, our country’s and the global economic future.
