Path to Membership

The Boston Economic Club (BEC) is a professional organization with a diversified membership throughout New England, representing the worlds of academia, economics, finance, government, healthcare, law, and technology. Candidates typically have, or have had, leadership positions, significant responsibility, or achievement in the areas mentioned above. To apply for membership, please use this guide as your virtual checklist:

Acquire a Sponsor

  • Two current Boston Economic Club active members must serve as sponsors for you. All correspondence regarding membership will go directly through your sponsors.

Attend a Club Meeting

  • To be considered for membership, you must attend at least one Boston Economic Club luncheon in person, preferably with your initial sponsor/s.

Submit Application & Biography

  • The sponsors must then provide the Club with a completed application and your biography. The initial proposer will manage the application.

Include Proposer & Seconder Recommendations

  • Both sponsors must also provide a support recommendation, explaining their enthusiasm and why BEC should consider you for membership. Members can find the nomination form at this link: NOMINATION FORM (for members only)

Await Committee Vote

  • At its quarterly meetings, the BEC Executive Committee considers membership nominations based on membership criteria. New members are notified by the Club following the Executive Committee's review.

Please do not hesitate to contact the BEC office at admin@BECBoston.org, should you have any questions or would like to express your interest in attending a meeting.
