Managing Director and Partner, Global Chief Economist

Boston Consulting Group

Co-Author of

"Shocks, Crises, and False Alarms: How to Assess True Macroeconomic Risk"

Philipp Carlsson-Szlezak is Boston Consulting Group’s Global Chief Economist. He also leads the Center for Macroeconomics at the BCG Henderson Institute.

Philipp advises executives and investors on the tactical economic outlook and on structural change. Publishing at the intersection of finance, macroeconomics, and business, he is a frequent contributor to Harvard Business Review, World Economic Forum, and other business publications. You can read Philipp’s latest thinking in his Fortune.com column.

Philipp is co-author (with Paul Swartz) of Shocks, Crises, and False Alarms: How to Assess True Macroeconomic Risk (Harvard Business Review Press, 2024). The book calls out pervasive doomsaying in public discourse about the economy and demonstrates how executives can navigate real, financial, and global risks more productively.

Philipp was previously Chief Economist at Sanford C. Bernstein where he covered the economy and markets for institutional investors in the global asset management industry. Earlier in his career, he spent more than ten years advising financial institutions and governments at BCG, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and McKinsey & Company.

Zoom option for this event will not be available.

Please note that for security reasons, you will be asked to present a government issued photo identification to gain entrance into the Federal Reserve Bank.
